Double Happiness Island
China Merchants Bank has commenced construction on a 2.2 square kilometer artificial island off the coast of Zhangzhou City, near Xiamen, China. Together with real estate giant, DTZ, BEE inc. has been hired to conduct a sustainability feasibility study to examine aspects of sustainability and how/if they can be implemented into this project. Using the LEED for Neighborhood Development system as a benchmark, our study examined a myriad of Ccharacteristics ranging from transportation, urban planning, energy generation, building efficiency etc. We focused not only on the technical feasibility of these solutions but also on the economic aspects that would make them viable. 
This exercise was just the first part of a larger ongoing project that will hopefully achieve LEED Certification upon its completion.
